Support Training Centre for St. Agnes Church – Mankulam

St Agnes Church of Mankulam is in North of Sri Lanka, which had no structural remains after the war. The villagers and their children had to be supported from scratch. We at Vithu Trust Fund were approached by Father James to bring a difference in them.
- As the saying says “Don’t give fish instead teach how to fish”, the ladies and girls were taught how to stitch and when they mastered it, we donated 10 Singer sewing machines of LKR. 30,000 each. They were also trained in cane basket making and other cottage, hand industry works.
- About 200 chickens were given to raise a poultry thereby providing protein-rich eggs daily to the children.
- All needed supplies were handed over to the church, which were distributed. One close friend also the trustee of Vithu Trust Fund donated about £8000 and I shared £23,000 for them.
- Bicycles, computers, clean beds were donated for the kids.
- My aunt, an ENT specialist and my uncle a heart specialist (a nonagenarian) also shared their valuable time and advice of the projects and are still involved in charity works. All the life we take and take, but when we start giving that is when we feel the bliss.
- This is one such project where I personally felt so contented in changing the lives of so many war survivors.
My deep gratitude to all those who shared the happiness in serving the Mankulam villagers.
